Langley Cricket Club have been awarded £45,802 towards the Extension Project from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). The scheme (more commonly known as the LEADER program) is jointly funded by EAFRD and the Department of Environment Food and Rural Services (DEFRA). The program in Cheshire is run by the Cheshire East Local Action Group (LAG) and is administered by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
On receipt of the confirmation letter new Club Chairman Matt Stevens was naturally delighted:
"This was the final piece in the project jigsaw and this funding award represents just over 50% of the total project cost. The club has done incredibly well to raise £20,000 in this calendar year and with the other funding from Tesco Bags for Life, Macclesfield Town Council, Cheshire East Council and The Big Lottery we are now in a position to start the project. This has been a monumental effort but the hard work starts now with the club looking to get the project finished for a grand opening in mid April. This is a truly exciting time for everyone involved with the club and for the community as a whole"
