Langley took a side featuring no less than 6 junior players to Macclesfield CC on Thursday for a friendly against a 3rd/4th team Xi.

Skipper Wilkinson-Hall won the toss and chose to bowl on the main pitch at Victoria road.

Langley opened the attack with Belfield and Jones, Belfield teased the openers with gentle off spin and was unlucky not to get a wicket first over.

Dan Jones returned to form with the ball and was rewarded with the wicket of Griffiths (16) caught by Hughes at gully. Jones finished with figures of 1 for 9 from 3 overs.

Young spinner Liam Boon continued his good form by taking the wickets of Jain (14) and Moores (0).

Rising star Billy Simpson (1 for 26) continues to impress this season with and was unfortunate to see 3 catches dropped off his bowling in 1 over!

Haydn Keogh returned figures of 4 for 16 with some superb line and length bowling including a caught and bowled at the end.

Macclesfield finished on 107 for 9 from their 20 overs.

After Langley opener Howdle got lost trying to find his pads, Bowden rushed in to open the batting with Tom Roberts.

Bowden was bowled by Hughes (3 for 13) third ball of the innings and was replaced by the reappearing Howdle.

Tom Roberts (15) continued his good form from Saturday and dug in to steady the ship.

The impressive Hughes bowled Howdle (12) and Simpson (0) in a fine display of swing bowling.

Nash (2 for 12) took the wickets of Keogh (0) and Brierley (0) as Langley found them selves in a spot of bother.

Boon (4) was unlucky to be caught by Griffiths, arguably the catch of the season.

Jones (9) and Hughes (19) added runs towards the end as the light started to fade.

Macclesfield eventually winning the game by 27 runs.
